SMS templates and merge variables
Edit automated message wording, pick a trigger, and use merge variables in the body.

SMS templates hold the wording for automated messages. Manual sends from Send SMS do not use templates.
Open SMS Templates
Go to SMS Templates in the sidebar. The page lists Name, Trigger, and Enabled for each row.
Click New template or any row to open the editor. You need Create SMS templates or Edit SMS templates permission.
One template per trigger
Each trigger can have only one template. Rentrovia seeds default Nepali templates the first time you open the list.
If you edit a template body, Rentrovia never overwrites your custom wording during upgrades.
Fields in the editor
- Name — internal label for your team
- Trigger — when the message fires
- Body — message text with variables
- Enabled — disabled templates skip automation triggers
The dialog header lists available variables for the chosen trigger.
Trigger options and variables
- Manual — no variables; not used by automation
- Booking confirmation — customer_name, vehicle_name, booking_number, start_date, start_date_bs, end_date, end_date_bs, total_amount, tenant_name
- Booking reminder — customer_name, vehicle_name, booking_number, end_date, end_date_bs, tenant_name
- Booking completion — customer_name, vehicle_name, booking_number, tenant_name
- Document expiry alert — vehicle_name, plate_suffix, document_summary, tenant_name
- Document renewal confirmation — vehicle_name, plate_suffix, renewed_summary, tenant_name
- EMI installment due — vehicle_name, plate_suffix, emi_amount, due_date, remaining_amount, tenant_name
The EMI template is seeded automatically. It may not appear as a choice in the New template trigger list, but you can edit or enable the seeded row.
Write variables as {{ variable_name }} in the body.
Enable or disable quickly
On the templates table, flip the Enabled switch without opening the editor. This needs Edit SMS templates permission.
Remember the dual gate: a disabled template blocks SMS even when the matching toggle is on under Notifications.
Segment length
Template bodies allow up to 1000 characters. Long Nepali text may split into multiple billable segments on SparrowSMS or similar providers.
