Automated booking, expiry, and EMI SMS
Which SMS triggers fire automatically, who receives them, and the two switches that must both be on.
Updated
Rentrovia sends automated SMS when a booking event happens or a vehicle deadline approaches. Each message needs two things: an enabled trigger and an enabled template.
The dual gate
Both must be on or nothing goes out:
- A toggle under Settings → Notifications
- A matching template under SMS Templates with Enabled on
Your provider must also show Ready with Enable SMS dispatch on. See setting up SMS.
Owner alerts phone
Open Settings → Notifications. Under Owner alerts phone, set an Override phone or leave it blank.
Rentrovia shows Effective: with the number in use. If blank, it falls back to your workspace Contact phone from setup.
Owner-bound alerts will not send SMS without an effective phone.
Booking reminders
Adjust these fields if needed:
- Reminder lead time (days) — default 3
- Minimum booking duration (days) — default 7
- Auto-complete grace (hours) — default 5
Shorter bookings get create and complete SMS only. They never receive Reminder before end.
Trigger toggles
Under Triggers, enable what you need:
- On booking created — customer and owner phone
- Reminder before end — customer only; skipped for short bookings
- On booking completed — customer and owner phone
- Vehicle expiry alert — owner when bluebook or insurance expires within 30 days
- Vehicle expiry renewed — owner when an expiry date is pushed forward
- EMI installment due — owner three days before each vehicle's monthly due day
Click Save changes. Rentrovia confirms with Notification settings updated.
Vehicle records matter
Expiry alerts need accurate dates on each vehicle. Enter bluebook and insurance expiry when adding a vehicle.
EMI reminders need an active finance plan. See tracking vehicle costs and EMI.
In-app alerts still fire
Staff may receive in-app notifications even when SMS is skipped. Missing phone numbers or disabled templates block SMS only.
Edit message wording in SMS templates and variables. Check delivery in SMS logs and troubleshooting.
